Loyola is a constant haven for music all around its historic campus. Take a peek at these rising stars within its own galaxy.
Artist: Mojo Method
Influences: Phish, The Beatles, Incubus, Medeski Martin and Wood
Sounds like: Jazz and funk
Mojo Method, a new jam band on Loyola’s music scene, is already demonstrating they are destined for success, ready to take on the New Orleans music scene with nothing but potential and quite a few original tracks.
Four friends with a jazz/funk influence best describe the members of this ensemble. Drummer Devin Hildebrand, music industry freshmen; bassist Alex White, international business freshmen; guitarist and vocalist Ross Farbe, music industry freshmen and guitarist Kyle Hines, University of New Orleans music industry freshmen, comprise what is known as Mojo Method.
This funky foursome has known each other since high school, and even though they all played in separate bands before, they wasted no time in getting this band together after reuniting in college. All of them have been playing music for at least five years, and two of them for 10 years. Because of their musical experience, they have what it takes to take their newly rising band to stardom. With a demo already available, Farbe said, “We are looking forward to playing a lot this year.” These four are in it for the long run. Neither Farbe nor Hildebrand hesitated to say that they are playing for fun. “But if we happen to make it out there, none of us would fight it,” Hildebrand and Farbe said in between laughs.
