Loyola’s women’s basketball team has a new addition to the team this year. With Dobee Plaisance gone, the ‘Pack hired Kellie Kennedy.
Kennedy was once an assistant coach for Tulane’s women’s basketball team and went into private business for some time before joining the ‘Pack this year.
The Lady Wolfpack had a successful season last year, winning a program best at 28 games, leading them to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship. After winning the championship, they qualified for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Tournament. They reached the Final Eight.
“Coach Dobee did a great job here. Obviously, she’s going to be a tough act to follow, but we’re confident and are going to do our best, taking it one game at a time,” Kennedy said. She also expressed hopes that taking it slow will keep everyone at ease and focused, allowing the team to achieve their goals for the season.
“This is going to be a process. We might not win as many games as last year, but I’m ready for the challenge and am going to give it my all,” Kennedy said. “I’m really excited about this year. Loyola is a great school academically, which is important to me, and they also have a good athletics program.”
