South Park: The
Complete 13th Season
It’s hard to believe “South Park” is on its 14th season, but apparently it’s a fact since “South Park: The Complete 13th Season” has just arrived on DVD.
Somehow, the show has managed to remain fresh and significant, and can always be counted on for biting and contemporary humor. Highlights from this season include the music related attacks on Disney/Jonas Bros. with “The Ring” and Kanye West in “Fishsticks.”
The picture and sound transfers are pristine and this marks the first time a “South Park” DVD set includes deleted scenes, some of which could have easily been kept.
Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire
“Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire” is a silly, lighthearted BBC series that ran on Comedy Central last year. While not the funniest parody of action-adventure fantasy out there, it does have some amusing moments and the hilarious
Matt Lucas (TV’s “Little Britain”). The DVD features the full, uncut episodes that ran on the BBC, new to this shore.
Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls: Season 4
Discovery Channel’s hit show “Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls: Season 4” follows madman/survivalist/adventurer Grylls as he braves the hottest to the coldest terrains around … and the horrific things he eats. While eye-opening and informative, the “extreme-ness” tends to get a little mind numbing after a few episodes.
The Natural
Beautifully transferred to Blu-ray, Barry Levinson’s take on the Bernard Malamud’s classic novel, “The Natural,” has never come across more crisp and majestic. Though the altered ending stills remains controversial, this is the quintessential baseball film. The bonus features are plentiful, including the fascinating movieIQ feature, which connects the viewer to real-time trivia that pops on screen during the movie.
