Twelve crimes occurred in the university area during the past three weeks.
CARJACKING
Two attempted carjackings happened March 28, one of which was successful.
At 10 p.m. at the intersection of Upperline and Dryades streets, two men parked their car and approached the car behind them with AK-47s, according to the victims.
The victim who was driving said he reversed and struck several parked cars behind him, but was able to escape the perpetrators. People say the victim had been drinking.
At 11:50 p.m. on the 1900 block of Dublin St., a black Mercedes-Benz stopped next to the car beside it, and two men demanded the keys from the driver at gunpoint.
The stolen car is a 2003 Toyota Corolla with hood damage and a missing hubcap, Louisiana license plate MXP 529.
THEFT
A desktop computer was stolen from the Student Government Association office March 20.
SGA maintains that the doors were locked.
March 26, a laptop was stolen from a Monroe Library computer lab.
CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBERY
A man robbed a gas station on the 1400 block of S. Carrollton Avenue on March 14 at 6:10 p.m.
The man handed the clerk a note demanding money and suggesting that he had a weapon.
March 22, a man with a gun approached a Walgreens employee taking inventory at the 700 block of Dublin Street., but no robbery was attempted. The man drove away in a gray Nissan truck. The reason for the aggression is unknown.
March 30, a Walgreens was robbed at 12:50 p.m. at 718 S. Carrollton Ave. The suspect was loitering in front of the office, and when the manager and an employee entered, the man robbed the manager at gunpoint.
March 31, New Orleans police arrested Abdou Nadir for the March 29 robbery of a Shell Station on the 3100 block of S. Carrollton Avenue.
ROBBERY
A man robbed two people at gunpoint at the 7800 block of Oak Street at 11:15 p.m. March 16.
He took the victims’ wallets and cell phone and ran away.
March 21, young men rpbbed man and a woman on the 1400 block of Fern Street at 10:17 p.m. They pointed a handgun at the victims and stole their wallet and backpack.
