NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A driver was fatally shot Friday night, and his car ran into the handicapped access ramp at an Uptown New Orleans bar popular with college students.
Nobody was hurt in the bar, called Friar Tuck’s.
Seventeen-year-old Larrielle Evers says the driver was gasping, his hands on his chest, just after the crash. She says he then appeared to stop breathing.
The man was not immediately identified.
Evers told The Times-Picayune that she was in her stepmother’s house nearby when she heard at least six or seven shots, and then the “boom” of the crash.
The Maroon will update this story as more information becomes available.
