Sharee Jackson, A’06, died in her New Orleans home on April 14 at the age of 23. University ministry held a memorial for the Gamma Phi Beta alumna at Ignatius Chapel on April 21.
Friends of Jackson who were unable to attend the service sent letters.
Tina Cordova, A’05, wrote, “I miss you…You lived the life you had to the fullest. You were so smart, so beautiful and so vibrant. The world is going to miss out on your presence.”
Jackson graduated with a history degree from Loyola in 2006.
Since 2006, Jackson worked at Maple Street Book Shop while preparing to attend graduate school at Tulane University.
“She was so sweet, bubbly, smart,” Donna Allen, the owner, said. “We hired her pretty much on the spot…she definitely brightened up the place a great deal.”
Jackson is survived by her mother, father and brother in Plano, Texas.- Jess Burrola
