NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A 19-year-old Louisiana State University student is accused of plotting to kill her mother for an inheritance and offering $50,000 to an 18-year-old classmate for his help.
Nicole Boover was held without bond Wednesday in New Orleans on a charge of attempted first- degree murder and Nathan Andrew Yuhas was booked in Baton Rouge the same day as a fugitive from justice, online records show.
Both are students at Louisiana State University and were arrested there – Boover on Monday in her dormitory room and Yuhas
on Tuesday at the student union, campus police Capt. Cory Lalonde said on Wednesday.
Court papers filed to support Yuhas’ arrest warrant quote him as telling police Boover wanted to kill her parents to inherit from them, The Times-Picayune reported Wednesday.
Authorities say Boover allegedly tapped on her mother’s apartment door about 4:30 a.m. Monday, raising a silver-colored handgun when her mother answered. The mother shut the door immediately, but Boover allegedly fired three shots into it.
