Anonymous witnesses reported four separate burglary attempts during the past two weeks.
A person was observed entering unsecured cars on Feb. 17 and 25, first in the university area and then on the 2100 block of Audubon Street. The subject fled and was seen driving off on Feb. 25. He was driving a gray 2004 Volkswagen Jetta with a Louisiana license plate marked NEA 552. This car had previously been reported stolen.
A break-in occurred in the 7800 block of Jeanette Street on Feb. 25. The suspect broke a window with a cement brick and stole a purse inside the house. The resident ran downstairs and witnessed the break-in, and the suspect fled the area on a bicycle.
Two victims were forced out of their car at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 26, on the 5300 block of Daneel Street. The suspect used their vehicle, a white Ford Escape, to block the victims in their parking spot. One of the suspects drove off with the victim’s car, while the other suspect drove off in the Ford Escape. The victims’ car was a 2005 Acura MDX.
