Two crimes, an intrusion and a suspicious event, occurred in the Uptown area during the past two weeks. Feb. 27 at 9:49 p.m. near Plum St. and Carrollton streets, three suspects lured the victim to their car with bootleg CDs. The suspect sitting in the back then robbed the victim at gunpoint. The victim described the car as a red sedan.
Feb. 29 at 7:30 p.m. on the 2900 block of Calhoun Street, a man left his bike and began to rapidly approach a woman as she was entering her house. The woman’s dog scared the man away, and he took off on his bike.
Mar. 1 at 6:40 a.m. in Carrollton Hall, a student found two men in the common area of her suite. The suspects ran out of the room, and the victim chased them until they outran her. The victim said the two men looked like students.
March 1 at 10 a.m. on Broadway St. and S. Claiborne St., a suspect robbed Broadway Food Store. He pointed a gun at the clerk and ran off with an undetermined amount of money from the register.
NOPD also refuted a report that there had been 50 carjacking incidents around Newman School. Police said there were only three carjacking incidents reported since Jan. 2008
