To the editors:
I wanted to express my distaste with how NOLA Sound was represented in the March 18 issue of The Maroon’s Battle of the Bands article. The article was supposed to be about how the officer handled the situation, but instead read like a blame game.
It was reasonably assumed by all parties involved that the event would run late despite our technical difficulties because of the amount of time it takes to do set changes between bands. NOLA Sound told SGA that we would do our absolute best to have these set changes done as quickly as possible.
Everyone was in clear communication that set changes would take longer than the amount of time set aside. Whether or not the event would have started late or on time, the event would have lasted past 2 p.m. and all parties knew this. Saying our technical difficulties caused confusion is not only wrong, but also not the point of the article. We are mostly mad about the article going out of its way to comment negatively on the company and not mentioning why the event was running late.
We are not blaming SGA; we have a great relationship with them. This is about the article’s poor representation of the facts.
