Inaugural beignet fest comes to New Orleans

New Orleans will be hosting its first ever beignet festival Oct. 8 in Lafayette Square. The festival will host booths from fifteen different restaurants across the city.

Though beignets are traditionally thought of as sweet, there will also be a wide variety of savory choices including burger beignets, crawfish beignets and shrimp and corn maque choux beignets.

Profits from the fest will go towards the Tres Doux Foundation, a local organization whose aim is to “celebrate, embrace and enhance the lives of children with developmental delays and disabilities,” autism being the most common of these.
