The first cold front of the fall season has arrived along the Gulf Coast. The front, which passed through the area Wednesday night, brings an end to the near-record warmth seen throughout most of the month of September.
Lows on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain fell into the 60s Thursday night, and look to do the same on Friday, while most of the North Shore should drop into the 50s. High temperatures, which have been steady in the upper 80s and lower 90s for most of September, will now return to a more comfortable level, with upper 70s and lower 80s seen across the area on Thursday.
