Chief of Loyola University Police Department Todd Warren sent an email out reminding community members to stay alert during the protest in support of Palestine.

The protest is set to occur on Oct. 26 at 12:30 p.m. on Freret Street between Loyola and Tulane and is not affiliated with either university.

Warren said participants are expected to stay on the sidewalk and not move into Loyola or Tulane’s campus’.

Although they do not know how many people plan to attend the event, Warren wrote that they plan to block West Road towards Freret at the Freret Garage starting that morning. He said LUPD will work to ensure cars can still leave Freret Garage. Over 500 people have liked the post on instagram and hundreds have responded and reposted it to their feeds.

Officers will be placed in both garages and will only allow permitted vehicles inside.

“We urge you to take precautions to prioritize your own personal safety and the safety of others,” Warren wrote.
