Two Loyola design students had their works used as costumes for “RouxGaRoux”, a new walking krewe in the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus.
“Having our students participate in the parade is incredibly valuable – not only as a hands-on learning experience but also as a powerful recruitment tool,” said Daniela Marx, an associate professor and chair of the Design Department at Loyola.
Students in Intro to Design researched the Rougarou and sketched their costume ideas.
Student Arin Dingledine designed a wolf-like headpiece, and Angelina Mandel designed a three dimensional Rougarou face with wearable shields. Loyola’s second-line band, Wolfpack Brass, also marched with RouxGaRoux. The entry fee for the students to walk was paid for by the College of Music and Media, and Dean Sheryl Kennedy Haydel and other faculty members walked with the students, according to a press release from the College of Music and Media.
