Brief: Nursing professor honored by state

The Louisiana State Nurses Association has recognized Loyola University School of Nursing professor Laurie Anne Ferguson as a leader in the field of nursing. Ferguson was named the Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year as a part of the Louisiana Nurses Foundation Nightingale Awards. Ferguson both teaches in Loyola’s Doctor of Nursing online program and clinically as a family nurse practitioner in a designated health provider shortage area. She was also an integral part of a five-year, innovative colorectal cancer study funded by a $1.3 million grant from the American Cancer society.
