Brief: Volunteer orchestra hosts free concert on campus

The New Orleans Volunteer Orchestra will hold a free concert on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in Roussel Hall.

The orchestra is a community orchestra made up of Loyola students that do concerts for charity in the New Orleans area.

The 50-member orchestra ranges from high school students to Loyola students and alumni to adult community members.

The group is conducted and directed by music education junior Joseph Cieslak and Chris Bergeron, A’13. The show, entitled, “Symphonic Legends”, will feature Tchaikovsky’s “March Slav”, Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony”, Johan Straus’s “Radetzky March”, arias from Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” – featuring guest soloist Brindley McWhorter, mezzo-soprano, a Loyola senior – and music from The Legend of Zelda.

There will also be a reception following the hour and a half long show with desserts and snacks.
