Fraternity gets put on suspension by Nationals

The Loyola chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity is currently suspended from campus.

According to Tyler Boggess, Sigma Phi Epsilon National Headquarters East Chapter Services Director, the Louisiana Gamma chapter of Sig Ep is currently under investigation. Boggess said the reason for the investigation could not be explained until after the investigation is complete.

Jenna Rae Vercillo, assistant director of Student Leadership at Loyola, and Heather Roundtree, director of Co-Curricular programs, said that the university is complying with Sig Ep’s national headquarters.

“National took swift action and immediately sent a cease and desist order to the chapter, which put a hold on all activities,” Roundtree said.

Vercillo said that the national executive board will make a decision, and depending on what that decision is, the university may even take further action.

Vercillo and Roundtree also said that any concerns and questions about the pending investigation must be addressed with the national headquarters because they are the ones who initiated the investigation.

Members of Sigma Phi Epsilon declined to comment on the issue.
