Biological sciences senior Jeffrey Coote presented his research dealing with the regeneration of joints at Loyola’s Biology Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 5. Along with Associate Professor of biologial sciences Rosalie Anderson, Coote was among the first to regenerate chicken embryo limb joints in the lab.
In the lab, Coote, Anderson, among others, discovered certain conditions where limb regeneration is possible. His research was funded by the National Institutes of Health. Coote hopes to someday apply this research to human medical applications.
