Being a college student in New Orleans does have its perks. We’re privy to such a unique nightlife scene. On any given night, there’s always something to do, whether it’s taking a walk down Bourbon Street and experiencing the sights or running into a brass band performing in the middle of Frenchmen Street (if they get you dancing, be sure to leave a tip). For this issue of Wolf Magazine, we’re focusing on the nightlife scene our community has to offer.
Having to balance school and work can be tough, especially working in this scene, so we’ve highlighted students working as musicians (page 10) and as bartenders (page 26). Resident assistants, though not technically nightlife workers, may still deal with similar issues (page 16). After a rough night, we have you covered with nine ideas that can help speed up the recovery process of a hangover (page 6). And contrary to popular belief, you can still have fun staying in or abstaining from alcohol (page 5). Students can even take advantage of Loyola’s Film Buffs program and see a movie for free on Fridays (page 20). And just to keep your mind stimulated, we’ve included a quiz at the end of the magazine to test your knowledge on the content we’ve provided.
Next time, Wolf Magazine will be on stands in February, covering health and wellness. That issue will be the last time you see us this academic year on our glossy paper (the next two after that will be inside The Maroon). But before we leave for winter break, visit us on Facebook or Twitter and talk to us; we’d love to hear from you guys.
Peace,
Precious Esie
