Wow! We love Loyola. So often negative things about Loyola are discussed, but it is also important to reflect on the positive. Think about why you came to school here and what motivates you to actually get up and go to class. The people. The atmosphere. The beautiful campus.
We love that we are not just a number in our classes; we are real people. Some professors take a real interest in our lives and care about what we are doing outside of class. It makes us so happy to see Professor Burns cheering on the Pack at the basketball games. Not to mention seeing Fr. Boileau there too.
We appreciate that we know and recognize so many people and sincerely care about them when walking across campus. Even those people you have never spoken a word to give you a smile because you see them every Thursday during the window standing outside of the library.
We’re thankful that the campus operates with staff members who we know and care about. There’s Mr. Louis with WFF Management Services who always greets us with a warm smile. Then there’s the library faculty and staff who are always willing to help no matter how clueless we may seem. We also can’t forget Ricky and Ronald of Dining Services. They always go out of the way to help us set up events even when they don’t have too. Only at Loyola can you walk in the underground and see faculty, staff, and students gathering for a Bible study on a Tuesday night.
There’s a place for everyone here. If you want to discover different cultures and religions, you can. There’s an opportunity to experience something different from what you grew up with. We are encouraged to step outside of our comfort zones, listen to different music, and maybe even eat sushi.
It’s awesome to watch how graduating seniors get when they see their professors celebrating with them. The students really appreciate sharing that experience with the people who helped them get there.
Loyola’s name is on the minds of prominent people throughout the country, and its prestige helps with job placement. The alumni are ready to help graduates pursue careers and give them connections.
It’s unusual at a university to experience the type of community that we have. People come together during hard times and celebrate with each other during good times. Loyola is also a great place to have a little fun. We have the time of our lives at annual campus events such as the Hurricane Party and Loyolapalooza. It’s unique to have the opportunity to have a hand in programming events on campus, however big or small.
One of the most exciting times on campus is coming up next week: Homecoming. When else can you eat free food, win contests, and celebrate the love for YOUR Loyola University?
