The following email was sent to the president of the university. No reply was received.
Dear Rev. Byron:
As a graduate of Loyola, I find it embarrassing that you have chosen to silence a reasonable voice in a difficult age. I read in the paper in Houston that you have decided that an English major’s production of The Vagina Monologues will not be permitted on campus. The stated reason is that you find the language inappropriate.
Wake up and smell the coffee. Do you honestly think that people of college age and above, the intended audience, do not know about human anatomy and its various terms? Do you not think that human sexuality is a proper topic of discussion?
Perhaps if the Church were more open about sexuality and willing to engage in an honest and frank discussion, you would not be the Interim President.
Let the students speak. Allow the production.
Sincerely,
Dan P. BradleyArts and Sciences ’87
