Breaking News: Fog machine sets off alarm in Communication/ Music Complex

Fire alarms in the Communication/ Music Complex were set off around 10 p.m. due to a fog machine being used by a group of Loyola students for the filming of a music video.

The filming took place in a recording studio on the fourth floor of the building. All occupants of the Communication/ Music Complex were instructed to vacate the building and two fire engines were called to campus to respond to the incident.

The music video was being filmed for a class project for Jake Silvas, English digital media sophomore. Silvas said the project was meant for his Video Writing and Directing course.

Diana Sanchez, visual arts junior, a member of Silvas‘ band and participant in the making of the video said that they did not intend to cause a disturbance.

Students have attempted to return to the building but were told by LUPD officers that they could not reenter the building until all of the smoke has been cleared.
