Melissa Kaintz, biology junior, makes eyes at a mud snake while trying to encourage Myra Hughey, biology junior, to hold the reptile. Hughey has a fear of snakes, and it took about 45 minutes of coaxing to get her to hold the snake. The students were in Morrison Springs, Fla. earning their SCUBA diving certification with members of a herpetology class.
