Brief: Indian sitar player to perform in Monroe Hall

Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan, considered one of the best sitar players alive according to a university press release, will be performing in Nunemaker Auditorium in Monroe Hall on Friday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m.

The Indian Arts Circle of New Orleans and the College of Music and Fine Arts are sponsoring the event.

Khan, a seventh generation heir to the sitar’s first family, is internationally known as an inspirational musician and a loving guru.

Khan will be accompanied by table player, Subhajyoti Guha.

Reserved seating is available for $50, general admission for $25, and Loyola community members for $10.
