A Loyola student was approached by a white Kia Soul occupied by two men while leaving the Broadway campus around 2:00 a.m. on Jan. 22, according to director of university police and emergency management Todd Warren.
One of the men got out of the passenger side of the Kia, as he advanced towards the student’s vehicle, holding what was described as a dark colored handgun, Warren said.
The student safely fled the situation before contacting Loyola University Police Department.
Warren said Tulane University Police and New Orleans Police departments were able to locate the suspected Kia Soul; however, the suspects have not been located.
The investigation is ongoing, and LUPD is operating with support of the NOPD, Warren added.
“LUPD remains committed to the safety of all students and staff,” Warren said. He also encourages students and staff to remain vigilant and report suspicions to LUPD.
