Brief: Students discuss Islam in America

Professor Behrooz Moazami, director of Middle East peace studies, and three of his students are shedding light on Muslims living in America during a series of interactive discussions at the New Orleans Public Library.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, the public series “Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys” is ending after five sessions of exploring what it means to be Muslim and American through books and discussion.

The series is led by Patrick Moran, English writing senior, Hiba Elaasar, biology senior and president of the university’s Muslim Students Association, as well as English and history junior Simon Whedbee. The team is hosting the free, public conversation on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Norman Mayer branch of the library, located at 3001 Gentilly Blvd.
