Loyola’s tennis team lost to top ranked Xavier University in their first match of the spring season.
The men’s team squared up against the No. 2 Xavier squad, losing 0-9.
In doubles play, senior Steven Le and Diego Ernesto suffered a close loss to the Gold Rush’s Antoine Richard and Moses Michael 9-8.
In singles play, freshman Galileo Cabrales faced No. 3 Karan Salwan. Salwan was too much too contain, resulting in a loss for Loyola 6-3 and 6-2.
The women’s team also had a challenge versus the No. 19 Xavier squad, losing in similar fashion 0-9.
The doubles team consisted of sophomore Koral Martinez and freshman Nadja Ochsner versus No. 1 Lacee Ancar and Emma Kranendonk. Loyola lost with a score of 8-4.
In singles, Ochsner faced Kranendok, falling short with scores of 6-1 and 6-4.
Next up for the Wolf Pack is a match versus Southeastern University on Feb. 4 in Mobile, Alabama.
