Returning students this semester may have been surprised to see that the previous Clockwork program has been changed to a new program, Accommodate for Students. This change has recently been reflected in the apps dashboard for all students. Amy King, the director of the Office of Accessible Education, explained that this change was made to provide students and faculty with a program that is more user friendly than Clockwork was.
“Clockwork is an older program, was not very user friendly on the student and faculty side, and even less so on the OAE staff side. I reviewed the other platforms and agreed that Accommodate was the better choice for Loyola,” King said.
These programs are geared toward students who utilize accommodations in school and necessitate a system where they can submit the proper forms and gain resources to support their individual needs.
Accommodate for Students functions similarly to how Clockwork did. Students are still able to send out their Accommodation Letters to faculty each semester and schedule exams to be proctored with their accommodations at the OAE if needed on the new program. The change in platforms does not change what the process for accommodation is at Loyola or what accommodations students will receive, according to King.
King explained that faculty members also benefit from Accommodate for Students as they now have a more accessible program to handle student accommodations from.
“Faculty can now easily view their roster and note the students with accommodations in one place and more easily manage testing to be proctored here in the OAE. OAE is able to run accurate data, to ensure we are making well informed decisions that best support our students,” King said.
While Accommodation for Students is similar to Clockwork, the new program does present a learning curve for new users and students should allow time to adjust.
“The student interface is great and intuitive to use,” King said. “It is a change and it takes a bit of time to adjust.”
